Exhibition “Queer As German Folk”

June 6 @ 15:00 June 30 @ 23:00

Goethe-Institut Riga together with Riga Pride and Association of LGBT and their friends Mozaika present the exhibition “Queer as German Folk”. The vast display of information and archival material was created in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that created a massive shift in the development and recognition of LGBTQ rights in the Western world.
Goethe-Institut New York created this exhibition in 2019 with the co-operation of Schwules Museum Berlin un Federal and Agency for Civic Education, Berlin, but the unique mobile format was created by curators Birgit Bosold and Carina Klugbauer. The exhibition has traveled to various locations—USA, Canada, Mexico and Germany. “Queer as German Folk “ documents and educates us about the LGBTQ culture and rights development across 50 years in Germany. It displays similarities to the rest of Western Europe that will be relevant to Latvian and Baltic viewers in the path of their recognition of LGBTQ rights.

Inspired by SexyStyle and supported by Skrivanek.

Project is organized by Goethe-Institut Riga, Riga Pride, LGBT and their friends association Mozaika and Totaldobže.
